Corrin Cross outside Fermoy, or rather, the figure depicting Christ on the cross (corpus), has seen better days according to locals in the area who have raised concerns about its state of deterioration.
A well-known landmark overlooking much of the surrounding areas, the large stone cross erected at the top of Corrin depicting the crucifixion has long been a site of pilgrimage and worship, however the corpus now appears to be deteriorating at a rapid pace.
MARKS SIGNIFICANT ANNIVERSARY
According to local historian, Christy Roche, the cross was erected in the ‘Holy Year’ of 1933, marking the 1900 anniversary of the death of our lord.
