Is Ballyporeen set for a US tourism boost?

Ballyporeen could be among the rural communities to benefit from the planned American Presidents Trail, following the recent announcement of the Government’s new America250 initiative. 

The proposal, brought to the cabinet by Tourism Minister, Patrick O’Donovan after being initially suggested by Fine Gael TD, Edward Timmins, aims to highlight the Irish ancestral links of former US presidents and encourage more visitors to explore communities beyond the traditional tourist routes. 

“The trail will shine a light on those connections and give visitors from across the world a new and compelling reason to explore Ireland beyond the usual tourist trail,” Deputy Timmins said.
