Last weekend saw Killavullen man, and Red Bull driver, Conor Shanahan take the top prize, as he emerged victorious at the grand finale of the Drift Masters European championship in Warsaw.
The 20-year-old took the title over Finland’s Lauri Heinonen in the final, securing the round six crown in the process.
Romping home in top position with 459 points, he was tailed by Heinonen, and in third place was another Finn, Juha Rintanen. While Poland’s Piotr Wiecek was in fourth place with 341 points, Conor’s brother Jack Shanahan was not far behind in fifth place, with 328 points.
Speaking with The Avondhu on Wednesday, Conor recounted that even though he went into the sixth round of the championship with the best chance of winning, it was still all to lose. Coming close the last three years, he said that he ‘finally proved I’m the best out there’.
