Melleray preparing to welcome 100 students this September

One of the buildings at Mount Melleray which received a fresh coat of paint, as preparations continue for the arrival of students from Ave Maria University.

100 students of Ave Maria University, based in Florida, are set to arrive at Mount Melleray on Sunday, September 13th.

In the coming weeks, professors and programme staff are expected to occupy the historic location for final preparations ahead of the big opening. 

Mount Melleray Abbey, formerly home to Cistercian monks, is now a study abroad campus for the Catholic university and will see its first semester locally, beginning this September. Already, a number of staff are located on site, including Dr Samuel Shepard, a professor at Ave Maria University and director at the West Waterford campus.
