Not only have the roads been affected by the freezing weather conditions of late, so too, have some of the parking meters in Fermoy.

Commuters on Wednesday morning were greeted to frozen parking meters and left uncertain as to what to do.

Pauline Moriarty, Fermoy Municipal District Officer, said Cork County Council were aware of the problems, and traffic wardens have been advised to be lenient on affected days.

We did get a few phone calls here this morning so we were aware of the affected machines and obviously the traffic wardens would be cognisant of that in their rounds.

“Obviously we’d need to look into it as well and try and get it fixed, we have a maintenance contract with a company that services the machines for us so we can always get them down to repair them.

"Certainly the traffic warden would be aware of which machines are broken and would be lenient for that particular day or until the machine is fixed,” she said.
