Fermoy locals are calling for Cork County Council to disclose the short, medium and long term plans for a popular local amenity, Barnane walk.
Former councillor and mayor, John Murphy, and Paul Kavanagh of Fermoy Tidy Towns are calling on the council to place more focus on the walk which was described as ‘the jewel in the crown of Fermoy’, and to disclose plans for repairs and refurbishment of the amenity.
“It’s important. It’s every bit as important as the town park but there seems to be a concentration on the Town Park, and there needs to be a focus put on Barnane.
“This is the jewel in the crown of Fermoy. The park has its own full-time caretaker, and this is a bigger jewel in the crown, so there is no caretaker.
