Covid restrictions, as well as a delayed planning application, have seen plans for the advancement of the Rathcormac 2030 programme somewhat stalled.

In October last year, Rathcormac Community Council submitted a planning application to Cork County Council for the next phase of what is an ambitious village project. The application is for the development of a multi-service innovation centre located at The Fair Green, facilitated through the conversion and expansion of the old national school.

Plans for the new innovation and learning centre, however, have stalled due to a Cork County Council request for 'further information' on the development.

Further information request by the council related to wastewater and the Blackwater River Special Area of Conservation, which the River Bride and Shanowen Stream are connected to; flood zones, landscaping, the relocation of the existing recycling area, the proposed water feature, and roads.
