Senior carer at Amberley Home and Retirement Cottages in Fermoy, Gillian O’Shea, was recognised at the Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) Care Awards 2025 last Thursday, receiving a General Care Award.
Gillian was honoured, among others, at the NHI Care Awards ceremony which took place in Dublin. Speaking with The Avondhu afterwards, Gillian said she was ‘elated’ to receive the award, after 16 years in the caring industry, 11 at Amberley in Fermoy.
“I am still elated. I have never experienced such an influx of calls, messages and gifts before,” she said.
