Repairs ongoing on ‘Bo Bainne’ sculpture

Fermoy’s famed roundabout cows, better known as art installation ‘Bo Bainne’ created by artist Lynn Kirkham and commissioned by Teagasc for the Moorepark Research Centre, are on the mend.

In July 2025, two of the three sculptures, created from bog oak and galvanised steel, were damaged in an incident involving a vehicle/s. The two damaged cow sculptures were removed from the roundabout and artist Lynn Kirkham has recently shed light on the repair works underway in an effort to see the local landmarks reinstalled on the roundabout.

“The two cows are in with Fermoy Engineering at the moment. They’re completely stripped down, all the wood has been taken off. The wood is currently in my studio being either replaced, cleaned or refinished,” she said.
