Further 8 acres to be preserved by Corrin Nature Reserve

Corrin Nature Reserve have accepted a donation of 8 acres of moorland in the Cullenagh area near Corrin.

Still early days, the aim is to see the mountainous moorland, which is currently overgrown with furze and bracken, brought back to life with heather and wildlife, providing a habitat for ground-nesting birds.

“We’d like to get it back to what it used to be, low heather, wild blueberries and that kind of thing. It would be great for that kind of wildlife ground, skylarks and birds that would nest in the ground and inhabit that kind of area,” John Howard, of Rathcormac Game and Wildlife Club, who operate the nature reserve, said. “It’s early days yet, but it’s another 8 acres that’s saved from the bulldozer”.
