The third and final leg of Liam O’Donnell’s trio of fundraisers for Mitchelstown First Responders took place in Glenroe GAA Complex last Sunday. Organisers were lucky with the weather as the worst of the heavy showers fell elsewhere.
Liam and his crew of helpers were on site from early morning, putting the final touches to the event. The spacious venue, which continues to be developed (a viewing stand was completed earlier this year), proved ideal for the owners of lorries, tractors, cars and motorbikes. Tractors, mainly newer models, accounted for the bulk of the vehicles, all of which were registered prior to the run.
After the early morning cup of tea and sandwiches, those present were invited to attend an auction, which provided a nice top up to the fundraising. Liam performed the role of auctioneer and did so in a very professional manner, assisted by members of Mitchelstown First Responders, who displayed the items and kept a record of those doing the purchasing. All items reached their reserves and were sold.
