Funding to the tune of €16.6 million for sports equipment was announced late last week under the Sports Capital and Equipment programme, with several local clubs and organisations announced as beneficiaries.
Over €227,000 has been allocated to clubs within The Avondhu catchment, a significant boost in Covid times when fundraising has largely had to be curtailed or has been stymied, cutting off the lifeblood of many voluntary organisations. This funding announcement will now allow for significant improvements for recipient clubs.
Fermoy based Blackwater Triathlon Club were the largest local beneficiary in Cork, set to receive an allocation of €27,150 for participation performance and safety equipment.
