Some concern has been raised about the works on James Street in Mitchelstown, pertaining to the new 51-space public carpark on the street.

The site of the carpark is adjacent to the fire station, and as construction continues, two new speed bumps have been installed on the street – a new sign indicates that there is no right turn approaching the carpark downhill, meaning it will be inaccessible to motorists from that direction.

At the time that the development was first proposed, objections were raised by former councillor, June Murphy.
