Around 3 kilometres of water mains in Ballyhooly village need to be replaced, Uisce Éireann have confirmed, to resolve the supply issues that have plagued the village over many years.
The mains, running from Curribrain Cross to the village, need to be replaced with a larger diameter main, and while the replacement has been approved by Uisce Éireann, a timeline for construction is not currently available.
“It is very positive and welcome news that Uisce Eireann now finally acknowledge that there is a major issue with the mains pipe and have now committed to replacing 3km of that pipe,” Cllr Peter O’Donoghue said. “Whilst Uisce Éireann refused to give a timeline for completion of the works, they did say that the works in Ballyhooly are now a top priority for them and that the design process is already underway”.
