Castletownroche local, Mark Condren, laid claim to an unprecedented 7th AIB Press Photographer of the Year title on Friday last, as the Mediahuis Ireland photographer took the top award at a glittering ceremony in Dublin.

Mr Condren, who began his career at The Avondhu, said that he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the win, adding that it ‘hasn’t really sunk in yet’.

“I’m so happy, there’s such competition there and it’s so hard to win it. We’re taking thousands and thousands of pictures every week so you can imagine that over a year. The level of competition is so high, it’s a massive honour to win it,” Mr Condren said.
