Brideview Drama Group’s play for 2026 is Hugh Leonard’s classic, ‘Da’. The production commenced its run last Friday night in Tallow Community Centre. Here, audiences were introduced to the protagonists: Will Motherway (Charlie), James Lenane (Da), Helen Aherne (Mother), Liam Motherway (Young Charlie), Tony Leddy (Oliver), Brendan Hurley (Mr. Drumm), Marie Cotter (Mary Tate) and Helen Farrow (Mrs. Prynne).

‘Da’ is directed by Jack Aherne and John Roche with Shirley Howe engaged as stage manager. One of the best known and popular of Hugh Leonard’s plays, it deals with the themes of illegitimacy, adoption and class distinction in the Ireland of 1968. There are stellar performances all through and the end result is an engaging and thought provoking play that has stood the test of time.

‘Da’ had a 3 night run, with Sunday, 15th February to come.
