Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre has announced the exciting content and theme for its second annual history conference being held on Saturday, 30th September.
After the Revolution – the end of the civil war and its aftermath, looks to discuss some of the consequences and challenges of the Revolutionary Period and how towns, villages and society coped with life in Independent Ireland-post Civil War.
Drawing together many the country’s leading historians, writers and academics, this unmissable event will shed new light on the most challenging of periods in modern Irish history.
The day will provide, history buffs and those interested in this period in Cork and the wider country will have ample opportunity to engage with and discuss events, themes and theories with the expert panel and their fellow attendees.
The programme for the conference will also be interspersed with the opening of an associated photographic exhibition by Mayor of County Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn and the launching of a new book – ‘Saint George’s in Time’.
Saint George’s gratefully acknowledges the support of Cork County Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media for their funding for the conference.
Registration for the event will open at 9am, with lectures starting at 10am, until 5pm. A reduced conference fee of €25 has been set for the early birds booking up to 25th September, €30 thereafter. An additional €12 will include a delicious lunch catered at Saint George’s.
