Council refuse planning for Glanworth water treatment plant

Planning has been refused for a temporary wastewater treatment plant in Glanworth, which would have served a development of almost 30 houses which are yet to be built. 

No new large-scale building development is possible in Glanworth and has not been possible for a number of years, because the public wastewater treatment system is at full capacity.

In this case, the building developer, PC Quality Homes Ltd., proposed building their own water treatment plant, but the council denied permission for this as there are questions about who will service and maintain the plant once built.

Uisce Éireann stated in no uncertain terms that they had no intention to take responsibility or maintain such a wastewater treatment plant that was privately built.
