The annual Better Life Cycle auction took place in Jackie O’Brien’s Bar, Mitchelstown on Friday, December 21.
A very large crowd attended with long-time Better Life Cycle supporter, Maurice Walsh overseeing the auction. A range of high value items went under the hammer and bidding was brisk throughout.
Better Life Cycle, which raises funds for St Joseph’s Foundation, Charleville is in its fifth year and during that time, over €300,000 has been raised – this is due to the dedication of Better Life Cycle volunteers and the public’s ongoing support.
Addressing those at the auction, Tom O’Flynn acknowledged this all important backing; he went on to thank the many individuals and companies who have given so generously during the 5 years, he also explained that as a result of the Better Life Cycle fundraising, 5 new buses had been purchased for St Joseph’s – these buses are vital to those availing of services at St Joseph’s.
Tom described the Better Life Cycle group in Mitchelstown as ‘a closely knit family’. Due to illness, one of that family, Better Life Cycle chairman, John Walsh, was unable to attend – John was wished well by everyone in attendance.
Auction hosts were Aidan and Mary O’Brien – a couple who have always been very supportive of the Better Life Cycle project.
