Timely boost for towns as works on derelict properties advance

Ongoing works to two significant derelict properties in both Mitchelstown and Fermoy are a timely and welcome boost for the towns’ residents in advance of the new year, with a briefing given this week to public representatives at a meeting of the Fermoy Municipal District.

Works to houses on Upper Cork Street in Mitchelstown, being carried out following the partial collapse of a building over 2 years ago, are expected to be complete in the next two to three months, according to Cork County Council officials.

At Tuesday’s meeting, works carried out to derelict and dangerous buildings in the district were raised by Cllr Noel McCarthy, who commended the improvements made at the former 59 Club on Patrick Street, Fermoy.
