They’re bringing feudalism back, wahoo! Billionaire founder of Meta and all-round normal man, Mark Zuckerberg, has made like a Viking and stormed Waterford. The American plutocrat recently purchased Strancally Castle and as one of Ireland’s former top employers (Meta recently decided to replace 20% of its Irish workforce with AI), he will shortly begin populating the grounds with more suitably medieval workers. I myself have been offered a position as Yeoman of the Stool responsible for all of Mark’s lavatorial needs (court jester, I assume, had been taken).

Strancally, interestingly, comes from the Irish ‘Srón Chaillí’, meaning The Nose of a Hag. I think we should still name things like this, so I’ve removed the number from beside my front door and replaced it with a handmade sign that reads ‘The Snot of a Cat, T12 ETD1’, in tribute to my pet Socks’ constant sneezing.

The original castle in Strancally was built by Raymond ‘le Gros’ Fitzgerald in the late 12th century. Why a billionaire would want some gross guy’s house named after a witch’s nose is a strange one, but apparently vast amounts of wealth turn normal people into eccentric sociopaths, so who am I to judge?
