"On a night like this, we recognise the efforts made by students to achieve many goals, and, as you look at tonight's programme you can see that these achievements are many and varied." So said the Principal of Coláiste an Chraoibhín Christy Healy at the school's awards night last week.

He said that each student had excelled in some capacity and deserved to be honoured for that excellence. Some recipients had already graduated, he pointed out, saying: "We hope that they will carry forward the ethos of Coláiste an Chraoibhín throughout their lives. To those students who are still with us, we look forward to your continued presence in our classrooms and hope that you will continue to be an inspiration to each other and your fellow students."

The principal then outlined details of the new €6M extension to the school which they'll be seeking planning permission for shortly. He went on to thank parents and the Parents Association and Board of Management for their generous support.

He congratulated the students who were receiving awards, acknowledged the continued generosity of their sponsors, paid tribute to the committed and dedicated staff and said a special thanks to everyone involved in organising the awards event.
