Sights are now set on Rio as Fermoy’s Owen O’Keefe has embarked on his latest challenge, a 34km-36km swim along the coastline of Rio de Janeiro. The Leme to Pontal challenge in Brazil is an open-water coastal swimming marathon starting at Praia do Leme, running past Ipanema, Levlon, Sao Conradio, Barra da Tijuca and finishing in Pontal.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Mr O’Keefe is hoping to attempt the challenge if weather allows within a swim window from Thursday, November 5 to Wednesday, November 11.
“My swim window is opening on the Thursday and hopefully at some point in the following 7 days we’ll get good enough weather to attempt it,” he said.
