UK Dragon Theo Paphitis gave a small Cork company, led by a Mitchelstown man, a boost this week, when they were one of six winners across the UK and Ireland in a Twitter based competition.

Sean Hennessy, who is from Ballinwillin originally, is co-owner of LED Powerhouse in Mahon Industrial Park with Roland Vachet. Last Sunday, they tweeted about their business during Theo's 'Small Business Sunday' and when their message was chosen by Theo and retweeted to his 390,000 followers, it resulted in more Twitter followers and sales orders for the Cork company.

As well as this, the company are also profiled on www.theopaphitissbs.com - a perk which is exclusive to the Small Business Sunday winners.

Since the retweet, the company has gained an additional 150 new followers on Twitter - they currently have more than 1,500 and they got in extra orders for their range of quality LED flashlights.

Sean and Roland are both delighted with the achievement and Sean said that this will really help them to boost their business profile. Since the win, their Twitter page has been inundated with messages of congratulations and well wishes, as many new followers log on to see what the Cork company is doing.

TIMELY BOOST

“We’ve been in business two years and we have had great success with outdoor enthusiasts and professionals who need reliable powerful flashlights. Our mission is to help all our customers to ‘Conquer the Dark’.

"It is great to have support from Theo because it’s been challenging trying to raise our profile and Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his followers. As far as I can establish, there are only about ten Irish winners to date, so we are delighted to have been chosen," Sean said.

LED Powerhouse specialise in LED flashlights, head torches, bike lights, assorted accessories and LED bulbs.

Sean explained that any small business hoping for a retweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sundays between 5pm and 7.30pm and include the hashtag #SBS.

Six lucky businesses have their messages retweeted every Monday at 8pm and are then invited to enter their profile on the new website. This is done free of charge and the new website is sponsored by Ryman Stationery, where Theo is chairman.
