An information session and in-depth tour of Fermoy weir was organised and presented by the Save Fermoy Weir committee last Saturday.
Public representatives including Minister David Stanton and Pat Buckley TD were in attendance and spent a number of hours in Fermoy learning about the impact of the damaged weir, this history of it’s existence and the reasons why it urgently needs to be repaired.
Other representatives in attendance were chairperson of Fermoy MD, Cllr June Murphy, Cllr Deirdre O’Brien and Cllr Frank O’Flynn.
There were other concerned people in attendance as well as committee members from different local clubs and organisations in attendance to answer any questions and to explain the situation: Donal O’Keeffe, Helen White, Paul Kavanagh, Tommy Lawton, Tony O'Brien, Pa Granville, Christopher Kipper O'Donovan And Kenneth Barry.
