An Bord Pleanála has given the go-ahead for an amusement arcade in Mitchelstown.
Cork County Council had granted planning permission to Perks Promotions Mitchelstown to change the use of Weavers Bar, 45 Lower Cork Street, from a public house to an amusement arcade back in April, 2018 before an appeal was launched by a 'Concerned Citizens group initiated by Mr Martin Lane.
In their appeal, the Concerned Citizens group claimed that Cork County Council should not have made the decision to grant planning permission as ‘part III of the Gaming and Lotteries Act of 1956 does not apply to Mitchelstown’.
However, An Bord Pleanála granted planning permission and the decision has been welcomed by the owner of the property, Denis McGrath.
