
Residents in Rathcormac are ‘sick’ of the ongoing HGV and bus parking in the village, which has resulted in safety issues and has proved a nuisance for locals.
In what he described as a ‘last resort’ on the issue, Cllr William O’Leary tabled a motion this week, calling on the council to consider the introduction of bylaws to restrict the long-term parking of HGVs above a specified weight within towns and villages, with particular reference to Rathcormac.
The councillor outlined that in the village, concerns have been raised regarding the prolonged parking of such vehicles on public roads and in public parking areas. He called on the council to examine appropriate measures to address the issue, while ensuring adequate provision is available for drivers, where required.
