Padraig reflects on reaching Malin after a week of miles, rain and generosity

Fermoy man Padraig Barry recently completed the Mizen2Malin cycle in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, finishing a 7-day long journey that has helped raise close to €200,000 for the Cork-founded charity. 

The Fermoy man, who is visually impaired, took part in the estimated 750km cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head. The gruelling event, co-ordinated by Eamonn Linnane, has been running for over 25 years and is the only noted charity cycle that is inclusive of visually impaired cyclists. 

Speaking to The Avondhu after finishing his epic fundraiser, Padraig said the overwhelming tiredness was outweighed by what the group had achieved.
