The stars aligned for athletes of Carraig na bhFear Athletics Club last weekend, as the women secured silver in the Division 1 women’s category at the AAI National Outdoor League final.

The Carraig athletes secured the second-place podium position with 123 points, having competed against the top clubs in the country, despite qualifying as the final team for the competition during the June qualifiers.

“We qualified in last place, the 16th team, and we threw our hat at it then and went for it and came out second place yesterday in the Division 1,” manager Willie Walsh told The Avondhu on Monday.

Across the finals, women on the team competed in all 21 events, with the top 15 events counting towards their overall points.
