Fermoy hospital staff to wear face masks after policy change

The HSE has changed its national directive on the use of PPE in centres such as Fermoy Community Hospital.

The Avondhu revealed last week that nursing staff at the facility were forced to purchase their own face masks in the hope of preventing the spread of Covid-19.

A directive from HSE headquarters was blamed for the issue as it directed that only people dealing directly with coronavirus sufferers should wear the protective equipment.

Now officials have decided that all staff should wear the masks to prevent the spread of the virus.
