FRS Training is encouraging farmers and those involved in farming to take advantage of a series of fully funded chainsaw training courses that are available nationwide over the coming months.
The two-day chainsaw operations training courses (QQI Level 5) are fully funded by the Department of Agriculture, and will be taking place at locations all around the country through to the end of October.
Chainsaws are among the most hazardous pieces of equipment used on farms and can cause life-changing injuries or fatalities when used incorrectly. Common accidents include severe lacerations, kickback injuries, cuts to the legs and feet, and injuries resulting from poor maintenance, inadequate PPE, or a lack of training.
Proper instruction in safe operating techniques, equipment maintenance, risk assessment and the correct use of protective equipment is essential to reduce these risks and ensure chainsaws are used safely and effectively.
The two-day course is designed for anyone aged 16 years or older who is actively involved in farming and wishes to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to safely maintain and operate a chainsaw.
Courses are being delivered at locations nationwide throughout August, September and October, with multiple dates available.
