There was an early start for progressive farmer, Donal Sheehan, who welcomed the public to his holding at Ballyarra, Castlelyons last Sunday morning.
Donal was taking part in the ‘Inside The Gate, Farming For Nature’ initiative, which encourages farmers and landowners to adopt more wildlife friendly practices. Contrary to what some may believe, Donal isn’t a zealot when it comes to environmentally friendly farming, but, instead, prefers to encourage farmers to ‘work with nature’.
“It’s not that radical really and most farmers understand the importance of biodiversity. By doing things a bit differently, we can help protect vital habitats for a variety of animals, birds and insects,” he said.
