Parents in the Shanballymore area at the heart of a continued dispute over the allocation of school travel tickets say the situation has now become chaotic, with some of the 22 secondary school students attending school in Mitchelstown now allocated travel tickets for term time, while other close neighbours have not.
They slammed the lack of communication and clarity on the issue, saying that with term time fast approaching, they face uncertainty as to commuting, work and travel arrangements.
“We have no authority over this situation and no-one can give us any clarity as to what is happening,” one frustrated parent, whose child is going into first year in a Mitchelstown school, told The Avondhu earlier this week. With both she and her husband working in different North Cork towns, she says she has no idea how her child is going to get to school each day come September.
