27 staff of Grand Hotel ‘left in limbo’

27 full and part-time staff have been left without work following the abrupt closure of the Grand Hotel in Fermoy at the weekend, as hotel contents begin to be cleared from the premises.  

One staff member, who has worked full-time at the hotel for several years, said that they were notified of the hotel closure via a phone-call on Sunday.   

At a meeting on Monday, staff were told by management that the owner of the building would not be maintaining the hotel as a going concern and that they no longer had jobs. The staff member who spoke to this paper has applied for other work since.
