A carnival atmosphere, fun and care-free ambience and explosions of colour all set the scene for last year’s ‘Yarn Bomb’ for Kilworth Festival.

Trees, benches, lamp posts and everything in between were covered with wonderfully colourful and inventive knitted creations, as both skilled and novice knitters from all around took on the task of bringing more colour and vibrancy to the village through the fun project.

Now, under the guidance of the talented Laura Hurley, the committee are hoping that this year’s ‘Yarn Bomb’ will be bigger and better than before.

Organisers need knitters, crochet or pom-pom makers to get on board and create square panels of 23cm in any colour and any wool and be part of this brilliant project.

Fermoy Bookshop has also kindly offered a 50% discount on all wool for anyone who quotes Kilworth Yarn Bomb at the checkout and the committee members are truly grateful for this kind of sponsorship, as it will help a lot more people to get involved.

Anyone of any age can get involved and the committee are asking those who work with the elderly within the community to encourage them to get involved, as it is lovely to see people from different generations working together on something like this.

On Sunday, June 26 at 1.30pm, there will be a ‘Knit in the Park’ where everyone is invited to bring needles and enjoy an afternoon of making friends and helping to create panels, which will make Kilworth the most colourful village around. Tea and coffee will also be available on the day.

Kilworth Festival 2016 starts on July 31 and runs until August 7. To keep up to date with news and events, follow the festival page on Facebook, check out the programme of events or contact Fiona on 025-27972.
