A local heritage project started in Aglish graveyard, Doneraile last week when a team of local enthusiasts surveyed over 100 headstones, recording the names and dates on the stones as well as beginning the process of tracing the families represented.
Organised by Ballyhoura Development Ltd. and run by John Tierney of the Historic Graves Project, Doneraile has been chosen as one of the centres for their survey this Summer.
Anybody with an interest in local history, the development of Doneraile parish, old graveyards and headstones, is asked to come along to St Mary’s graveyard for a training survey due to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, September 2/3 from 10am – 4.00pm.
