The latest act of vandalism at Mitchelstown Community Playground has been described as an ‘act of thuggery’ by a local volunteer who continues to clean, sweep and pick up litter at the playground on a daily basis.
Just last weekend, Denis McGrath carried out his regular routine of maintenance at the playground and spent hours pruning and trimming back the shrubs, trees and flowers in preparation for the months ahead.
However, all of his work was undone when it was discovered the following day that thugs had ripped up a large amount of the freshly cut and pruned shrubs and had thrown them around the playground.
