Amateur drama in Ardpatrick remains in rude good health thanks to the Trojan efforts of ‘The Hillside Players’, a small but dedicated group of thespians, whose record in recent years has been to produce a play annually.

The 2026 offering is a raucous comedy, ‘Stalker Beware’, which opened before a capacity crowd in Ardpatrick Community Centre last Thursday night. Patrons were promised dramatic plot twists and some outrageous laughs and this Ron Hudson script certainly delivered.

Credit for this goes to the cast of Pat O’Dwyer, Aoife Mortell, Annette Crowley, Rayna O’Brien, Tom Murphy, Francie Goggin and highly rated newcomer, Patrick ‘Paddy’ Byrne, who plays the part of ‘Archie’. An actor with an extensive list of credits to his name, the Kildare native admits to have taken a pay cut, before signing for the Players, but to date, seems happy enough with the terms and conditions!
