Parents unite against chaotic and uncertain school transport

On Wednesday morning this week, about 20 to 30 parents lined the main street in Kildorrery in a show of solidarity, making a stand following the removal of schoolchildren from the school bus by an inspector on Tuesday morning.

The introduction of free school transport in July has meant that the system is overloaded, with multiple mismanagement issues combining to create a perfect storm. 

The result of the cacophony of failures of the school transport system is now a daily worry for parents as to whether their child will get to school, or be left on the side of the street.

One parent described the system as ‘an unfair lottery’, while many again highlighted to The Avondhu the stress the situation is continuing to place on families.
