Planning has been granted by Cork County Council for a large renewable gas plant in Mitchelstown which will use cattle slurry used to produce gas to fuel homes and businesses.
The project, to be sited in the Corracunna/Garryleagh area, will be the first of 17 transmission connected facilities, delivering renewable gas into the natural gas network and will be capable of supplying up to 56,000 homes.
Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) has said that the GRAZE Gas project will be a major step in achieving their target to deliver 20% of Ireland’s gas supply by 2030 and 50% by 2050.
