
The Irish United Nations Veterans Association (IUNVA) Post 25 in Fermoy ‘risk being disbanded’ if they cannot find an alternative suitable location before vacating their current premises in the town in late August – the hunt for a permanent premises is now on in earnest.
Veterans met with elected members of the Fermoy MD earlier this month on the issue, outlining they must vacate their current premises on Fitzgerald Place by August 25th; the association do not have any alternative accommodation from which to base their operation. It is understood the owner of the property now requires it for another use.
Raising the issue in a motion at Tuesday’s meeting of the Fermoy Municipal District, Cllr Peter O’Donoghue called on the council to acknowledge the significance and importance of Post 25 IUNVA in Fermoy, and to write to the Minister for Defence to seek a permanent location for the Association to operate out of in the town.
