The current situation with Kildorrery water tower has been likened to the ‘children’s hospital’ as Cllr Deirdre O’Brien sought an update on the vital infrastructure which has had planning approval since 2023.
In a motion tabled at the Northern Divisional Committee this week, the Mitchelstown councillor asked that the council seek an update from Uisce Éireann on the progress of the proposed new reservoir.
Cllr O’Brien recalled asking that a viewing tower be made from the existing 23 metre tower, but said she was told at the time that this would ‘delay progress’. According to the councillor, a 23, tower is to be taken down and replaced with a 12m tower, noting that it may be a ‘missed opportunity’.
