An announcement by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht on Monday, that no Irish language summer courses would be run in the Gaeltacht this year due to Covid-19, came as a blow to many, including Gaelcholáiste na Cloiche Léithe, in Kilworth.
Joe Aherne, founder and coordinator of the Kilworth-based Irish language camp, described the impact that the virus has had, saying: “The summer courses are gone for this year. I had to pull the plug on what I began here back in 2017.”
