The decision of Reverend Eileen Cremin to retire on health grounds has occasioned great sadness within the Union of Churches in Fermoy and beyond.
At last Friday night's function in Adair Hall warm tributes were paid to the Londoner who came to Fermoy in 2006.
Regrettably, extended periods of ill health made it extremely difficult to carry on and it's with a heavy heart that she took the decision to retire. “It's a decision I've struggled with for some time, but ultimately, physical constraints have meant I'm not able to continue in ministry,” she told the large gathering.
An occasion tinged with sadness, everyone accepts Eileen's decision to retire, however, her departure is a considerable loss … securing a replacement will not be easy.
