Gold once again for Kotryna

Kotryna Pacerinskaite proudly proves that she's the national champion and record holder in the Weight-for-distance competition, at the National Indoor Championships last weekend.

Kotryna Pacerinskaite once more made headlines last weekend, as she smashed her own championship record during the Athletics Ireland National Senior Indoor Championships, with a distance of 8.3 metres in the weight for distance, a full 1.2 metres further than her nearest competitor.

The Mitchelstown native, who is a second year student in University of Limerick and competes under the Fanahan McSweeney banner, was one of three athletes to attain championship records last weekend, joining runners Sarah Healy and Marcus Lawler in their respective achievements.

Speaking with The Avondhu on Wednesday, just as she returned from shot putt training in UL, Ms Pacerinskaite said the atmosphere in Dublin was exciting as the stadium was fully sold out.
