Gold for Blackwater Honey

Well done to local brothers Andrew and John Shinnick from Blackwater Honey in Cregg, who won gold for the 3rd year in a row at the Irish Quality Food & Drink Awards at The Mansion House, Dublin last week.

Blackwater Honey had three honeys as finalists in the 2023 IQFDA awards. In the end, they were crowned overall winners of the Irish Quality Food Awards – ‘Preserves & Sweet Spreads’ category for the 3rd year in a row for their Heather Honey (which is comparable to if not better than Manuka honey according to a 2018 TCD/UCD study. Their Heather Honey also won a 1 Star in the UK Great Taste award in both 2022 and 2023.

Their Blossom Honey has previously won silver medals in 2021 and 2022 in the same IQFDA awards and was also a Great Taste winner and Blas na hÉireann finalist in 2021.

Blackwater Honey are also finalists in the 2023 Blas na hÉireann – Irish Taste Awards which will be held in Dingle, Co Kerry on September 29th.
