On Sunday, June 19, Glanworth Community Council will pay a fitting tribute to the men and women of 1916, as the new 1916 garden will be opened and blessed.

The 1916 garden contains seven trees which were all kindly sponsored by clubs, organisations and families and over the next week, a bench, flagpole and a plaque containing the Proclamation will all be added.

On the day, proceedings will begin with Mass at 10.30am in Holy Cross Church, Glanworth, followed by a parade to the garden for the official ceremony.

This promises to be a special day of remembrance and commemoration and people are encouraged to dress like people would have in 1916 if they can.

Anyone who has any photographs from the time period or family stories about Glanworth, or anyone who would like to help out on the day is asked to contact Pauline O’Dwyer on 087-7999073.
