Leisure facility plans that would greatly enhance the village of Glanworth have been unveiled.

At last Thursday night’s meeting in Glanworth Community Centre, the public saw what’s being proposed, namely, a fully equipped playground, Astroturf pitch, tennis courts, multi use games area and a surface suitable for the playing of boules – a form of outdoor bowls.

At this well attended meeting, the community aspect of the facility was stressed, i.e. it would benefit the parish of Glanworth, Ballindangan and Curraghagalla.

To be overseen by Glanworth Community Development Group, the facility is to be located adjacent to Glanworth National School.

It’s anticipated funding can be secured from various bodies including Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, Cork County Council, government agencies, sponsorship and public donations.
