Bride Rovers and Cork sharpshooter, Katie Quirke, is in contention for a much coveted All-Star award, one of only 3 players from the Rebel county to make this year’s shortlist.
Announced on Thursday last, it shows that All-Ireland Senior champions Galway lead the way on the list of nominations with 14 nominees in the 45-player long list.
The list of nominees, compiled by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s All-Star committee, sees 12 players from runners-up Kerry nominated, TG4 Ulster champions Armagh are next in line with 6, Dublin along with Lidl National League Division 1 winners, Cork have three each. There are 2 nominations apiece for Waterford, Kildare and Mayo, with a single nominee from Meath.
Cork’s trio of nominees, include Quirke and defenders, Melissa Duggan and Shauna Kelly. Quirke faces stiff competition in the full forward line, with 2025 All-Star Síofra O’Shea from Kerry, amongst those hoping to get the nod. Quirke amasses 1-13 for the Rebels in their 2026 championship campaign, while scoring 4-37 in the league.
Defender Karen McGrath and forward Kellyann Hogan are Waterford’s two nominees.
Four players who earned TG4 All-Star awards last year who are long-listed once again – Meath captain Niamh Gallogly, Galway pair and Kilkerrin-Clonberne clubmates Nicola Ward and Olivia Divilly, and Kerry’s Síofra O’Shea.
The 2026 TG4 All-Star team will be announced at a gala banquet at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel on Saturday, November 14.
The 2026 TG4 Junior, Intermediate and Senior Players’ Player of the Year Award winners will also be revealed on the night, while the 2026 inductee into the Ladies Gaelic Football Association Hall of Fame will be acknowledged.
