Cllr William O’Leary placed a motion before a recent meeting of the Northern Committee in Mallow, requesting that the Road Safety Authority establish a driving test centre in the Fermoy / Mitchelstown area in order to cater for the large numbers of people looking to take their driving test in the region. 

Cllr O’Leary explained that such a centre would cater for the whole North East region and West Waterford.

He described the difficulties that people encounter trying to get their driving licences, and quipped: “At this stage, it’s nearly easier to become an astronaut than a qualified driver.”
